1. Chichén Itzá - Mexico

The Temple of the Sun... and echoes!

Imagine a pyramid that echoes the call of the quetzal (a sacred bird) when you clap your hands. Yes, it's possible at Chichén Itzá, an ancient Mayan city where science, spirituality and architecture merge. Visit the site at sunrise, when the shadows transform the staircase into a snake!

The country at a glance :

Mexico, heir to the Olmec, Mayan and Aztec civilizations, was conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century. Today, it's a mixed, festive country with a vibrant culture.

2. The Colosseum - Italy

The place where 50,000 fans came... to see gladiators

A symbol of ancient Rome, this stone theater hosted battles, naval re-enactments (yes, they filled the arena with water!) and XXL shows. 2000 years later, it's still standing. Try out the immersive audioguide in gladiator mode for a dive into the arena!

The country at a glance :

Cradle of the Roman Empire, then of the Renaissance, Italy has always played a key role in Europe. Today, it combines heritage, art of living and pizza (always an art, yes).

3. Christ the Redeemer - Brazil

The world's most famous open-arm statue

At 38 metres high, it towers over Rio de Janeiro from Mount Corcovado. It's a symbol of welcome, faith... and a must-see selfie spot overlooking Guanabara Bay. Climb to the top by cogwheel train through the urban jungle.

The country at a glance :

Colonized by the Portuguese, Brazil experienced slavery, empire and then republic. A blend of peoples and cultures, it is the largest country in South America... and the country of the samba.

4. Petra - Jordan

A city carved out of pink rock, hidden in the desert

You reach it via a narrow canyon (the Siq), before coming face to face with the Treasure: a giant facade carved into the cliff. This was the setting for Indiana Jones. Bonus: visit Petra by Night, lit by candlelight - magical atmosphere guaranteed.

The country at a glance :

Between the Nabataean Empire, Roman influence and biblical history, Jordan has always been a crossroads of civilizations. Today, it's a peaceful and welcoming country.

5. The Great Wall - China

A wall so long it can be seen from space (well, almost)

Actually, no, but at 21,000 km long, it is by far the most impressive defensive barrier in the world. Built over 2,000 years, it winds its way between mountains and valleys. Take a walk along the Jinshanling section: incredible panoramas and less touristy.

The country at a glance :

One of the world's oldest continuous civilizations. Dynasties, inventions (paper, compass...), empire, then revolution. China fascinates with its past... and its future.

6. Machu Picchu - Peru

The lost city of the Incas... rediscovered in 1911

Perched at an altitude of 2,430 metres, this ancient sacred city is a jewel of architecture and mystery. We still don't know why it was abandoned.

Take the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes... or embark on the Inca Trail trek.

The country at a glance :

Land of the Incas, then a Spanish colony, Peru today is a land of contrasts, between the Andes, the Amazon and the Pacific coast. And yes, it's also the birthplace of ceviche.

7. The Taj Mahal - India

The most romantic of mausoleums

Built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his late wife, this white palace is a tribute to love... in marble. It changes color according to the time of day. Emotion guaranteed. Go at dawn to avoid the crowds and watch the Taj turn pale pink.

The country at a glance :

India, land of the Indus civilizations, maharajas, Gandhi and Bollywood. It's a country of mad diversity, between spirituality, chaos and creative genius.
